First,
lets define a Master Profile. A Master
Profile is simply any profile in OmniTrader
that displays the signals from other profiles.
A Master Profile is already set up for you (called
Master) or you can make any other profile in OmniTrader
a master profile by following a few simple steps.
Setting up a Master Profile is easy, so let's
look at the process.
Creating
a Master Profile
In
this example, we are going to create a Master
Profile for End of Day stock analysis (Master
Profiles are not available in Real Time).
We want to see the signals that are generated
in our Master Profile's testing (this profile
uses the default settings) as well as the signals
that are generated in the Swing and Trending Profile.
Step
1 - Setting up the Focus List
Open
up your Master Profile (File, Open) .
Now click on the wrench at the top of your Focus List. You
will see a table appear like the one pictured
below:

The Profile Signals tab shows all of the similar
profiles (Stocks, Futures, etc.) in your OmniTrader
which are available to be added to your Master
Profile.
If
you click on the Profile Signals tab, you will
see all of the profiles in your OmniTrader for
this type of security (Stocks, Futures, etc.).
We are going to highlight the SWI (Swing Profile)
column and click the Add button. Next, we
will do the same for the TRE (Trending Profile)
column. You can use the arrows at the bottom
of the Focus List Configuration box to move all
of the signal columns next to each other.
(Your Master Profile may already have these columns,
and a few more profiles, included already).
When you are done, click OK and your Focus List
should look something like this:

The Master Profile
Now
your Master Profile is set up. However,
you need to make sure that the symbols in your
Master Profile are included in your Swing and
Trending profiles. This is necessary so
that the unique systems and settings in the other
profiles can test each symbol.
The
final step is to test each the profiles in your
Master Profile. If one of the other profiles
is not "synched" up (or updated) with
your Master Profile, the column that represents
that profile will be gray.
Helpful
Hint: You can update all the profiles at
once (instead of going to each profile and running
the To Do List) by using Auto Mode. Please
refer to page 72 of your OmniTrader Guidebook
for more information on Auto Mode.
When
the testing is complete, you will see the signals
that were generated for each profile! A
consensus on the direction of a security by all
the profiles in your Master Profile is an excellent
confirmation tool.
This
concludes our lesson for this week. Best
of luck with your trades, and remember that you
