Nirvana
Systems was founded by Ed Downs,
former Automation Design Engineer. The company's
mission was to Automate the trading process
for individual investors, money managers,
and brokers.

| 1989 |
Nirvana's
first product was released; a
"software robot" named Klatu.
This robot could automate any DOS program,
reading the screen and driving the keyboard
to act as a user would. It also had an embedded
speech device from Texas Instruments that
allowed the system to communicate with a
trader at specific events. Traders who had
programming ability purchased Klatu and
began trading with market events remotely
from their computers.

The
Director Utility Series These
utilities, based on the Klatu Automation
System, performed specific tasks with programs
like MetaStock, AIQ, Telescan ProSearch,
Analyzer, Quicklink, and other programs.
The utilities would run automations such
as "run all symbols, with all systems,
through MetaStock and tabulate the results."
Investors and traders could instantly apply
them to their other trading software and
realize automation benefits.
